Let's Talk. The Undertaker vs Cena.

John Cena squaring off against The Undertaker has already happened a few times through the mid 2000s but John Cena vs The Undertaker at Wrestlemania has never happened.

Will this ever happen? Could this ever happen? 'Taker may not have too many matches left and with the somewhat ambiguous situation involving The Shield, the white hot Daniel Bryan and Brock Lesnar looking for trouble there could be some other opponents for 'Taker to go for.

Would WWE or its fans benefit from pitting super Cena against The Deadman?
I believe given the right angle it could be oh so more than epic.

Personally I would love to see this match happen and have spent a few commutes to work thinking about how this could go down.

Respect

Hustle, Loyalty and Respect. It's what Cena is all about and it could play a part in this match up. If Cena decided to take the challenge to Undertaker he say it's all about respect and wants to have the honour to try and beat the streak.

Good ol' Mr.Clean could come to the aid of 'Taker against say....The Shield and get the big mans attention by doing so. Once Cena has Undertaker's full focus he can spew out all the niceties and gooch kissing to get his chance at ending The Streak. After all taking on The Undertaker at Wrestlemania is the one thing that has alluded Cena and he would need to know he tried, because we know Cena couldn't sleep at night unless he knows he has tried.
I can hear the promo in my head right now and believe me we have all heard it before.

Come match time, Cena can give it all the SuperCena he wants and even do his hurricanrana if he wants. He might even go for a Tombstone of his own with the helpless expression on his face of  "What do I have to do to put you away?". You know what I mean, we've seen it all before.
Now it's not that these matches aren't entertaining or story telling, in fact 'Takers annual outings have often been the most talked about 'Mania matches in the last five years. However, like I say, we've seen it before and the last thing Cena needs is another reheating of an old mixture. He's had it tough the last couple of years with the IWC and even live crowds screaming that they're bored of the same old shizz.

@wrestlingchron made a excellent point and said "I would love to see it. Say what you want about Cena, dude knows how to bring it (with) high profile matches. I'd like to see the focal point come from taker. For years now it's been I CAN BEAT THE STREAK I want to see Taker question someone rather than be questioned"

So if Cena did go toe to toe with Undertaker, what would have to be done to make it fresh and exciting for the WWE Universe and the IWC?

The Meaner Cena

John Cena is typically known to some for being a carbon copy of himself from the month before and the month before that and the month before that.
He regularly cuts very similar promos and his matches can be as routined as Gangnam Style but he can and has changed it up, I'm not talking the infamous angry face, as above, but more like his stick work with The Rock and his ring work with Edge and CM Punk.

In the last few years Undertaker has kinda just had his opponents challenge him for the chance to beat the streak so he wouldn't necessarily need to come after Cena, Cena could go straight for The Phenom to prove to himself that he can beat The Undertaker on the grandest stage of them all.
Undi' could decline the challenge which would only provoke Cena into his getting his jorts in bunch and getting in 'Takers face. Still in face mode, with a sprinkle of heel tendencies just like Shawn Michaels, he could provoke The Undertaker into getting what he wants by pleading to the ever more prominent human side of The Deadman to give him chance to find out if he can do what no other man has, and change that "0" to a "1".

With Undertaker not really needing to answer to anyone in locker room, not even Cena, he would have to pull out all the stops to get Undertakers attention and could cause for some drastic measures. After all desperate men will do desperate things.
It's hard to for me to suggest a fresh how Cena could go about this because Shawn Michaels has done the whole face/heel thing, Triple H has gone for the respect angle and Punk went for the full heel attack and got into Undertaker's head and personal life.
It could be that 'Taker returns pre-mania and says he has no plans or need to be at Wrestlemania which would be Cena's cue to start pushing buttons and begging for the match and much like his back and forth with The Rock he could really amp up his promos and dig deep for a reaction.

Once the match has been made and is underway 'Taker could be on the brink of winning and Cena could go for a desperation tactic. Obviously nothing too heelish, I'm not saying he would be in full heel mode but a little low blow or an AA onto a chair to just show he is willing to try anything to get it done.

For Vince's sake and everybody elses for that matter, The Undertaker will still have that "0" in the streak and Cena could come out on Raw the next night and return to his shoulder-shruggery McSmiley routine and everything can back to that same old shizz.

@bunnysuicida agrees and tweeted "I'd possibly like to see it, if Cena went in as either a temporary or full time heel."

The Streak vs Career

Imagine that. It's not quite like a loser leaves Raw match or even a loser gets fired match, but putting your career on the line at Wrestlemania seems to be legit. Aside from Flair having his little stint with Hogan's tour and TNA he has mostly held up his part and Michaels has stayed true as of now.
So if Cena was forced into putting it all on the line either by Undertaker or his own admission it would certainly add a skip full of petrol to the fire.

I can't lie and say I'd be 100% on who would win in this situation.
Sadly Cena could lose and for whatever reason be back by the early Summer for whatever the reason, so the match could happen, 'Taker keeps the streak and Cena would be gone. But it all amounts to squatch because Cena would be back bouncing around like his usual self.

But what if the plan all along was to build the streak into the biggest title in the WWE and have the poster boy end it? I don't mean it was the 20 year plan for Cena to do it but whoever was in the that position at the time of Undertaker's retirement to beat the streak and have the biggest torch passed.

One thing I can be sure of is if the career stipulation was added the build up to the biggest show would be intense and the match itself could be one heck of a battle.
Also the career stip could be added to either the respect or heel-ish Cena angles with no problem of over doing it and in my opinion add believability and credibility to the build and leave me guessing on the outcome of the match.
I've only ever really questioned Undertaker's chances at Wrestlemania twice. The first was against the then "Legend Killer" Randy Orton at WM21 and again with Michaels second round at WM26. Of course every year I get that "Will he kick out?!" moment during the match but never really doubt Phenom's chances going in but against Cena with career on the line I would have to start second guessing the situation from the get go.
